Education

Pacific H.E.L.P.S. is committed to improving access to quality education for all islanders. Due to their remote location, many young people receive no formal education. They are taught the language of the island and the customs of the island community, but are rarely taught marketable vocational skills. Those islands that do have a schoolhouse, do not have any of the modern facilities to which we have grown accustomed and the instruction is limited. Many of the islands that do have a schoolhouse do not have any electricity so the students are not exposed to the tools that one needs to be successful in any vocation outside the confines of their small island. Pacific H.E.L.P.S. improves access to education in several meaningful ways.

Pacific H.E.L.P.S. provides access to technology by first equipping existing schools with electricity through solar energy. Once equipped with electricity, teachers and students will have access to technology necessary for training young minds to be successful in a vocation. Educated young people are the future of the Pacific. Equipping young people for vocations that can be used to help the community will significantly improve the quality of life for all islanders. Your donation will help equip schools with the resources needed to provide quality education to island children.

Pacific H.E.L.P.S. develops relationships with institutions of higher learning to help those young people who have dreams of attending college realize their dream. A few of the Pacific islands have high schools capable of educating young people that would allow them to be successful in college. Most of these young people do not have the means to attend college or they have family ties at home that makes it difficult to attend college. Pacific H.E.L.P.S. works with universities and family members to help these young people attend college, many of whom are the first in their family to do so. Your donation will help young people with no means to achieve the dream of college, achieve their dream.

Pacific H.E.L.P.S. has access to a 200 foot AM/FM broadcast tower capable of reaching much of the Pacific. Pacific H.E.L.P.S. will use this facility to broadcast educational programs to islanders, providing instruction not available on the remote islands. The materials broadcast by Pacific H.E.L.P.S. will be Christ-centered and will incorporate Biblical principles, encouraging islanders to establish a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Pacific H.E.L.P.S. has developed relationships with native islanders who can translate instructional materials into the language of their island and then broadcast classes in their native language. Your donation will enable Pacific H.E.L.P.S. to develop and broadcast Christ-centered educational materials to thousands of islanders throughout the Pacific.

Education is essential to advancement in life. Pacific H.E.L.P.S. is committed to educating nationals who can apply their knowledge to improving their community. Young islanders equipped as teachers can have a significant impact on their community. Young islanders that have been trained in a vocation can provide essential services to their community and create jobs. Many of the Pacific islands have untapped resources that can be marketed provided that the inhabitants are trained to organize and use those resources to their maximum potential. A Christ-centered education fostered by Pacific H.E.L.P.S. blends life skills training with moral character.
